Annual ground water hydrology report
Search in document library
This report summarises the results of the regions groundwater quantity
and quality monitoring network for 1999.
It is intended as an overview document and supplements the hydrological
database and reports containing more extensive analysis.
Groundwater in the Wellington Region can generally be described as
being in a healthy condition with levels and quality data within expected
natural ranges.
Notable results include:
- Elevated nitrate concentrations continue to be a feature of groundwater
samples taken from under the Hautere Plain on the Kapiti Coast.
- For the last two years the water pressure in the Waiwhetu Artesian
Aquifer under the Lower Hutt Valley has been above average and often
close to maximum recorded values.
- Water levels in the Wairarapa generally continue to be below average
due to lower winter recharge.
Also available for previous year's:
1997/98 (WRC/RINV-G-98/42)
1996/97 (WRC/RINV-G-97/53...
