This Value for Money (VfM) Review evaluates the Greater Wellington Regional Council's funding contribution to the Poplar and Willow Research Trust (PWRT). The PWRT is a sector initiative comprising 13 Councils, aiming to increase the use and effectiveness of poplars and willows to improve soil stability, flood protection, and environmental restoration throughout New Zealand. The review determined the financial contribution made by EG delivers value for money, when including both the current utility and likely future benefit of the PWRT's work.  However, it also noted the need for more transparent trade-offs and establishment of accountability mechanisms.
